Duarte finished Wednesday's preseason win over Memphis with 21 points (9-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block.
The first-round pick out of Oregon started and saw a team-high 36 minutes of action in a game the Pacers treated as somewhat of a regular-season tune-up. While Indiana was without Malcolm Brogdon (shoulder/maintenance), Duarte figures to see an increased role early on with T.J. Warren (foot) and Caris LeVert (back) on the shelf. The 24-year-old is one of the oldest lottery picks in recent NBA history, so the hope is that he'll be able to hit the ground running. Thus far in preseason, the results have been encouraging.
