Spurs' Tony Parker: MRI on tap Thursday

The Spurs officially labeled Parker's injury as a left leg issue, and he'll undergo an MRI on Thursday, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Parker put up 18 points in 26 minutes in the Spurs' Game 2 win over the Rockets, but the injury he suffered in the fourth quarter of the victory may be of greater significance for the duration of the series. The veteran point guard was unable to leave the court under his own power and wasn't putting any weight on his leg, suggesting that a long-term absence could be in store. The Spurs should update the extent and specificity of Parker's injury after the MRI results come in, but in the event that the Frenchman is sidelined for Game 3 and beyond, Patty Mills would likely settle into a larger role as the team's starting point guard. Rookie Dejounte Murray would also likely enter the rotation as Mills' primary backup.
