Williams signed a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers on Sunday.
The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Arizona was one of three players who joined Portland on 10-day deals Sunday with the Trail Blazers set to play without at least eight members of their roster Monday against the Mavericks. For the time being, Williams looks like he'll slot in as the third-string point guard behind Damian Lillard (personal) and Anfernee Simons while Dennis Smith is in the NBA's health and safety protocols and CJ McCollum is recovering from a collapsed lung. Lillard is listed as questionable for Monday's contest, so Williams could get the opportunity to serve as Simons' primary backup if Lillard is ultimately forced to sit out. Over 10 appearances in the G League this season with the Westchester Knicks, Williams averaged 17.7 points, 4.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 31.1 minutes.
