  • Spurs' Rudy Gay: Plays well in return
    By RotoWire Staff

Gay posted 14 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 23 minutes during Wednesday's 107-99 victory over Minnesota. Gay made his regular-season debut for the Spurs on Wednesday, and owners have to be pleased with what he was able to deliver. There are always going to be questions when a player returns from such a major injury, but Gay was able to stay on the floor and look healthy in the process. His upside is probably going to be limited playing behind Kawhi Leonard (quad), but until he is cleared to return to action, Gay will likely see some additional minutes. Even with his bench role, he remains a nice late-round player who can do a bit of everything.

  • Spurs' Rudy Gay: Scores 14 off bench Friday
    By RotoWire Staff

Gay scored 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt) while adding seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in 24 minutes off the bench during Friday's preseason win over the Rockets. Even with Kawhi Leonard (quad) officially ruled out for the beginning of the regular season, Gay will remain the big gun on the second unit for the Spurs. The 31-year-old's production is expected to take a hit this year as he adapts to a sixth-man role, but he's still capable of providing useful fantasy numbers in multiple categories even if he isn't seeing 30-plus minutes a night.

  • Gay tallied 13 points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal across 20 minutes during Tuesday's 103-98 loss to the Magic. Gay has played well over the Spurs two most recent games, posting a combined 24 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals across 42 total minutes. With an ability to play both forward spots, Gay could see sixth-man minutes behind the likes of Kawhi Leonard (quad) and LaMarcus Aldridge.

  • Spurs' Rudy Gay: Scores four points in debut
    By RotoWire Staff

Gay posted four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 18 minutes in Friday's 113-93 preseason win over the Kings. After sitting out the opener last Monday, Gay made his Spurs debut against one of his old squads. As expected, the veteran saw a modest minutes load, with head coach Gregg Popovich likely to progressively add to his playing time as the exhibition slate unfolds. Gay should serve as an excellent source of scoring and rebounds on the second unit while backing up both forward spots in the coming season.

  • Spurs' Rudy Gay: To make preseason debut Friday
    By RotoWire Staff

Gay will play in Friday's preseason matchup with the Kings, Michael C. Wright of ESPN reports. Gay was held out of the preseason opener Monday, though coach Gregg Popovich indicated that he was just being overly conservative with his prized offseason addition. Fully expected to be brought along slowly after suffering a torn Achilles last season, Gay is likely only going to play a handful of minutes, before potentially having his workload upped once the regular season approaches. Look for Gay to spend time at both forward spots.
