  • Augustin (quad) played 27 minutes in Saturday's 110-117 loss to the Hawks, finishing with eight points (2-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Augustin came into Saturday with a questionable designation because of a quad injury, but ended up playing through it and logged 27 minutes. That workload suggests the injury is no longer giving Augustin discomfort, so he should be good to go moving forward. That said, Augustin largely struggled on the offensive side of the ball, hitting just 25 percent of his field goal attempts and 20 percent of his three-pointers, so he'll look to lock back in ahead of Wednesday's matchup with the Clippers.

  • Augustin is nursing a quad injury and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Hawks, Dante Marchitelli of Fox Sports Florida reports. Augustin likely suffered the injury during the first portion of the Magic's back-to-back set Friday against the Nuggets. The team is dealing with backcourt injuries to Evan Fournier (ankle) and Terrance Ross (knee), making Augustin's health especially important, as he can play some shooting guard when needed. More word on Augustin's status should emerge as the team ramps up their activity leading up to tipoff. If he's ultimately unable to take the floor, Arron Afflalo and Mario Hezonja are two candidates to see extended run.

  • Augustin (hamstring) returned from a seven-game absence to play 17 minutes in Saturday's 125-85 loss to the Jazz. He failed to score a point (0-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and added one rebound and one assist while turning the ball over twice. Per Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Augustin said after the contest that he's still working his way back into playing shape following the two-and-a-half-week layoff due to the left hamstring strain, which may explain the veteran's poor showing in his first game back. Augustin had previously hit double figures in the scoring column in three of the Magic's first four games, but he benefited from upticks in playing time in those contests with starting point guard Elfrid Payton missing two of those contests due to an injury of his own. With Payton having returned to action Nov. 8 and taken back control of the starting role, Augustin likely won't be in line for a dramatic boost in minutes from the 17 he received Saturday.

  • Magic's D.J. Augustin: Hopes to return by Monday

Augustin (hamstring) said that he hopes to play either Saturday against the Jazz or Monday against the Pacers, Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel reports. Augustin has missed the last seven games with a strained left hamstring, but it looks like the point guard is nearing full healthy headed into the weekend. Upon his return, Augustin is expected to take over as the team's primary point guard behind Elfrid Payton, which would likely send Shelvin Mack back to a very limited role off the bench.

  • Augustin (hamstring) is not expected to play during the team's upcoming four-game road trip, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports. "I don't anticipate that [D.J. can play on the trip]," coach Frank Vogel said. "He's really just in the mindset that he's going to continue to try to improve and see how he responds from treatment." Augustin originally suffered a mild-to-moderate hamstring strain on Nov. 1 against Memphis and while he's had a full week of rest and recovery, he's still dealing with some discomfort. Look for Augustin to miss the next four games while undergoing additional treatment, which would make his next opportunity to return a Nov. 18 matchup against Utah. Elfrid Payton returned from a hamstring injury of his own on Wednesday, posting 11 points, six rebounds, 11 assists and two steals across 29 minutes. He should continue to get the bulk of the point guard workload moving forward, with Shelvin Mack and Jonathon Simmons filling Augustin's minutes off the bench.
