Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said Friday that Rose will likely miss the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign while he recovers from a low back injury in addition to a right groin injury, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. After being diagnosed March 5 with low back and groin soreness, Rose was set to be re-evaluated in three weeks. The three-week period has now passed, and the Grizzlies seem to have opted to shut Rose down for the season, a decision that doesn't come as a surprise given Memphis' status as a non-playoff contender. Rose struggled to stay healthy all season and made just 24 appearances (seven starts), averaging 8.0 points, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 16.6 minutes. Rose is under contract with the Grizzlies for one more season and is set to turn 36 years old in October.... See More ... See Less

Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Set for multi-week absence
Rose will be re-evaluated in three weeks after being diagnosed with right osteitis pubis stemming from an injury suffered on Feb. 28 against Minnesota, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Rose is dealing with the lingering soreness in his lower back and groin, which appears set to sideline him for Memphis' next nine games, at least. The veteran guard carries shutdown risk as well, especially if the Grizzlies prioritize maximizing minutes for recent two-way signee Jordan Goodwin.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Remains out Monday
Rose (back) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Nets. Rose will miss a third straight game due to back soreness. The veteran's next chance to suit up will come Wednesday in Philadelphia.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Won't play Saturday
Rose (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers. Rose will miss both halves of the back-to-back set against Portland after leaving Wednesday's loss to Minnesota early. The veteran's next chance to suit up will come Monday in Brooklyn.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Not playing Friday
Rose (back) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers. Rose left Wednesday's 110-101 loss to the Timberwolves with back soreness and didn't return, and given his injury history, it's not surprising that he won't be available for this one. The Grizzlies are playing a back-to-back set against Portland on Friday and Saturday, and it remains to be seen if Rose will be available for the second half of that set.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Doesn't return after early exit
Rose left Wednesday's 110-101 loss to the Timberwolves with back soreness and didn't return. He logged two points (1-2 FG) and an assist across six minutes. Wednesday's game marked Rose's third straight appearance, a feat he hadn't accomplished since the middle of December. However, he was unable to finish the contest and will have a day to rest before the Grizzlies embark upon a home back-to-back Friday and Saturday against Portland. Expect Rose to miss at least one of those contests.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Questionable to return Wednesday
Rose is questionable to return to Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves due to back soreness. Rose has dealt with injuries all season and is now questionable to return Wednesday after logging just six minutes. With Luke Kennard (illness) out, Jordan Goodwin will likely be relied upon to play heavy minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Off injury report
Rose (ankle) has been removed from the injury report for Friday's game against the Clippers. Rose tweaked his ankle and missed the Grizzlies' final game heading into the All-Star break, but he should be available for the start of Memphis' second-half schedule. He'll likely serve in a backup role behind starting point guard Jordan Goodwin and may be in store for minutes in the teens.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Won't play Thursday
Rose has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bucks due to right ankle soreness. Rose was available Wednesday against Houston and tallied eight points, four rebounds and three assists in 16 minutes. However, he'll sit out the second half of the back-to-back set and will have some additional time to rest ahead of the All-Star break. Jordan Goodwin could see increased run Thursday.... See More ... Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Will play against Houston
Rose (ankle) is available for Wednesday's game versus the Rockets. Rose has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday after missing Memphis' previous contest with a right ankle injury. With Jacob Gilyard in the G League, the veteran Rose will serve as the backup point guard to Luke Kennard.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Upgraded to questionable
Rose (ankle) is questionable to play Wednesday versus Houston, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Rose would join a cast of ball handlers headlined by John Konchar and Jacob Gilyard if he's able to suit up Wednesday. Rose is joined by Ziaire Williams (hand) as questionable for Wednesday's contest.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Officially ruled out
Rose (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Pelicans, independent NBA writer Parker Fleming reports. Rose was doubtful ahead of Monday's matchup, so it isn't very surprising to see him ruled out. Scotty Pippen will serve as the Grizzlies' starting point guard against New Orleans.... See More ... Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Unlikely to play Monday
Rose is doubtful for Monday's game against the Pelicans due to right ankle soreness. Rose has been in and out of the lineup lately due to a lingering ankle issue, and he is likely to be held out again on Monday. Jacob Gilyard figures to see increased minutes if Rose is unable to go.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Good to go Saturday
Rose (ankle) is available for Saturday's game against the Hornets. The veteran will shed his questionable tag and will be returning from a one-game absence. Rose will likely have a limited role going forward with the Grizzlies prioritizing their youth amid a rebuilding season.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Questionable against Charlotte
Rose (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Hornets. Rose is in danger of missing his second straight game Saturday due to a sore right ankle. If the veteran guard is unable to suit up, Jacob Gliyard should continue to receive increased playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Ruled out for Thursday
Rose (ankle) will not play Thursday against the Bulls, as expected. Rose will return to the sidelines due to the ankle issue, and his next chance to play will come Saturday in Charlotte. Expect Jacob Gilyard to get all the run he can handle Thursday evening.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Not expected to play
Rose (ankle) isn't expected to play Thursday against the Bulls, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Rose was questionable for Thursday's matchup due to an ankle injury, and he'll likely be forced to miss at least one game after sustaining an ankle injury Tuesday against the Knicks. Assuming he's sidelined Thursday, his next opportunity to suit up would be Saturday against Charlotte.... See More ... See Less -
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Questionable for Thursday
Rose (ankle) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Bulls. Rose twisted his ankle during Tuesday's game and is now in danger of returning to the sidelines Thursday. We'll have a better idea on his status based on his activity level at Thursday's shootaround, but if he's not able to give it a go, Jacob Gilyard and Scotty Pippen Jr. would benefit.... See More ... Grizzlies' Derrick Rose: Exits game with injury
Rose won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Knicks due to a sore right ankle. He'll finish the contest with seven points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 12 minutes. Rose's ankle injury is unrelated to his hamstring issue that caused him to sit out 15 of Memphis' last 16 contests. The veteran point guard's next chance to suit up will come Thursday versus Chicago. If Rose is unable to play, Jacob Gilyard, John Konchar and Scotty Pippen would likely handle nearly all the minutes at point guard.... See More ... See Less -
