Barton had just eight points, three rebounds, and one assist in 20 minutes during Sunday's 100-96 loss to Portland. Barton closed out a difficult season by scoring just eight points in 20 minutes Sunday. An early-season injury derailed what was hoped to have been a strong season for Barton. Despite returning some months ago, Barton was not able to find any sort of consistency and was eventually supplanted in the starting lineup by Torry Craig. He appeared lost on the offensive end of the floor, making many questionable decisions at best, and defensively, offered very little production. Looking forward, Barton is going to have to work hard during the off-season as he looks to regain some of his explosiveness.
Barton provided 22 points (8-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals across 39 minutes during the Nuggets' 140-137 quadruple-overtime loss to the Trail Blazers in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal-round series Friday. It was the caliber of performance Barton made the norm last season, but that was few and far between for him during this past campaign. The veteran wing hadn't scored in double digits since Game 5 of the first-round series against the Spurs, and his scoring tally Friday was his highest since March 6. He'll look to replicate his production and provide Denver with key second-unit scoring during Sunday's critical Game 4.
Barton produced just two points (1-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt), two rebounds, and one steal in 19 minutes during Thursday's 120-103 loss to San Antonio. Barton put up arguably his worst performance of the season Thursday, finishing with just two points in 19 minutes. All in all, Barton has been a disaster since returning from injury and appears to have lost a lot of his explosiveness. It remains to be seen whether he is impacted long term but at this stage, the Nuggets cannot rely on him for anything other than occasional scoring outbursts with very little else.
Barton contributed 17 points (7-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, and three assists in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 108-90 Game 5 win over the Spurs. Barton enjoyed by far his most efficient showing in this series offensively while earning his highest minute total since Game 1. He seems comfortable coming off the bench while former reserve Torrey Craig has performed admirably as the starter across these last two games. Expect Barton to stay aggressive as the team tries to close out the series during Thursday's Game 6.
Barton tallied 12 points (3-10 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, and two assists in 15 minutes during Saturday's 117-103 Game 4 win over the Spurs. Barton came off the bench and saw limited action while Torrey Craig drained a career-high five treys in 37 minutes as the starting small forward. Barton has seen a drop in minutes in all four games during this playoff series (from 32 to 26 to 20 to 15). However, he amassed more points in this one than he did in the last two tilts combined while draining more threes than he had in the first three put together. Moreover, Barton may end up spending more time with the ball in his hands as one of the key cogs for the second unit than he did as the fourth of fifth option in the starting five.
