Covington finished with 15 points (5-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven boards, one block, and three steals in 37 minutes of a 120-116 win against Milwaukee on Sunday. Covington finished in double figures for the third consecutive game as Houston was able to overcome a late eight-point deficit for the win against Milwaukee. His three steals were the most he's had in a game since being acquired by the Rockets in February. He'll face the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
Covington tallied seven points (3-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, four blocks and two assists in 26 minutes Sunday in the Rockets' 126-106 loss to the Magic. Covington has been held in the single digits in scoring in two of his last three outings, but he poured in 25 points and seven treys in the other game, and he's racked up eight blocks between the three contests. As that production illustrates, Covington is still capable of giving fantasy managers something useful even on nights he doesn't shoot the ball well, making him a highly valuable option.
Covington notched 20 points (7-14 FG, 6-11 3Pt), 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 34 minutes during Monday's 125-123 loss at New York. Covington has scored in double digits in eight of his first 10 games with the Rockets since being traded from the Timberwolves, but he has also averaged 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.5 blocks during that stretch. He's shooting just 36.4 percent from deep and that could improve, but until now, Covington has been doing exactly what the team needs from him on both ends of the court.
Covington ended with 16 points (6-12 FG, 4-10 3Pt), 16 rebounds, three blocks and a steal in 39 minutes during Saturday's 111-110 victory over the Celtics. Covington reaped the benefits of the Celtics' poor shot selection, grabbing a career-high 16 boards and blocking three shots for the sixth game in a row. The 29-year-old also provided on the offensive end, extending his run of contests with 10-plus points to three. Covington ended his first month with the Rockets averaging 12.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.
Covington posted 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, four blocks, one steal and one assist across 30 minutes during Monday's 123-112 victory over the Knicks. Covington continues to be a shockingly-good shot-blocker for the Rockets, who have often deployed him as a small-ball center. He tied his season-high four blocks Monday, and he's averaging 2.6 blocks since joining the Rockets, not to mention 1.1 steals. Since his rookie 2013-14 season, Covington has the most performances in the league with at least two threes, two steals and two blocks (32). The next highest are Danny Green and James Harden, who have 26 apiece.
