McGruder was claimed off waivers by the Clippers on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. McGruder was let go by the Heat on Sunday, although it didn't take long for him to find a new home. Even though he's not eligible for the playoffs, McGruder could have a chance to play in Wednesday's final regular-season game against the Jazz.
McGruder was waived by the Heat on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Despite turning in the best season of his career statistically (7.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg over 65 contests), Miami will release McGruder prior to the final two games of the regular season. He won't be eligible to be picked up by another team for the playoffs, as he was cut after the Mar. 1 deadline. Nonetheless, the Heat are hoping he'll be claimed, as that would move the organization under the luxury tax.
McGruder (knee) posted zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and two rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench Wednesday in the Heat's 112-102 loss to the Celtics. McGruder had missed the Heat's previous eight games with the knee injury. The reserve wing wasn't a significant part of the Miami rotation prior to getting hurt, so don't expect his minutes to pick up much -- if at all -- in the Heat's next contest Friday in Minneapolis.
McGruder (knee) is available Wednesday against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. McGruder has been out since March 18 while dealing with left knee soreness, but he's finally available to make his return. Since the new year, he's averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 17.6 minutes.
McGruder (knee) is considered questionable for Wednesday's game against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. McGruder didn't join the Heat for their two-game road swing, but there's some hope that he'll be able to make his return after missing the last eight contests. Look for a more definitive update after shootaround Wednesday morning.
