Washburn will be active for Wednesday's tilt with the Rockets. With a slew of injuries depleting the Grizzlies' depth, Washburn has a chance at seeing action for the first time since February 7th. In seven NBA games, the rookie forward's averaging 1.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.7 minutes.
Washburn was assigned to the G League's Memphis Hustle and won't be available for the Grizzlies' game Wednesday in Chicago. Washburn drew back-to-back starts last week when the Grizzlies were shorthanded shortly before and after the trade deadline but didn't do much to distinguish himself. While playing a combined 68 minutes between the two contests, Washburn produced just nine points on 3-for-15 shooting from the field to go with 10 rebounds, three steals and two assists. He's since dropped out of the rotation for Memphis' past two games and will now head back to the G League in search of playing time.
Washburn went for seven points (3-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 108-106 win over the Timberwolves. Washburn drew his first career start with Garrett Temple and Kyle Anderson both sidelined by shoulder injuries. The 27-year-old rookie finished with career highs in scoring, assists, and minutes, although this was just the fifth appearance of his career. Even if Washburn remains in the starting five for Thursday's tilt versus the stout Thunder defense, it's not a very appealing matchup.
Washbarn will draw his first career start at small forward in Tuesday's tilt against the Timberwolves, David Cobb of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Washburn has seen his minutes increase in each of his first four games with the Grizzlies, and is now in line for his first start due to a plethora of injuries on the roster. Thus, he seems likely to see a relatively healthy workload, and could be worth a stream in daily contests.
Washburn played a season-high 20 minutes and finished with one point (0-1 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal Sunday in the Grizzlies' 96-84 win over the Knicks. Washburn, a two-way player for the Grizzlies, has been included in the Memphis rotation the past two games, playing double-digit minutes on both occasions. However, he has only one point to show for the elevated playing time, rendering him rather uninteresting for fantasy purposes for the time being even if he ends up sticking on the second unit.
