Bone is expected to serve as the top backup at point guard behind Cole Anthony in Friday's game at Houston, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports. Starter Markelle Fultz exited early Wednesday's 105-94 win over the Cavaliers with what proved to be a season-ending ACL tear, resulting in both Anthony and Bone seeing boosts in playing time. Anthony (32 minutes) ended up seeing the far larger share of the work and will likely continue to dominate the playing time while stepping into a starting role, but Bone should at least be an every-night rotation player until Michael Carter-Williams (foot) is ready to return to the Magic's second unit. Bone performed capably in his 12 minutes Wednesday, putting up seven points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist.

Bone joined the Magic on a two-way contract Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Bone made his NBA debut last season for the Pistons but failed to make much of an impression. He played a total of 53 minutes across 10 games, scoring 12 points and registering eight assists.

Bone will be an unrestricted free agent, as the Pistons will not extent a qualifying offer to him, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Bone was selected by Detroit with the 57th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The guard from the University of Tennessee played in 10 Pistons games and in 31 games with the G League Grand Rapid Drive. Chances are, he'll start off the upcoming season in the G League.

Bone supplied 28 points (9-21 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 assists, four rebounds and three steals in 34 minutes during Sunday's win over the Herd. Bone was excellent in his return to Grand Rapids, leading the team in points and assists while manging a plus-18 net rating on the night. In all likelihood, this G League stint won't last long, as Bone has cracked the Pistons' rotation in recent weeks.

Bone was recalled from the G League on Wednesday, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports. In the aftermath of the Reggie Jackson buyout, the Pistons have opted to call up Bone. He's appeared in nine games for the Pistons, totaling six points, eight assists, one rebound and one steal in 48 minutes. It's possible he sees some run moving forward as the Pistons transition into a rebuild.
