Jackson will start at point guard for Thursday's matchup against the Magic, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. With the Pelicans mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, the team will roll with Jackson as the starter. He could be in line for major minutes Thursday, especially considering Lonzo Ball could be rested for the entire game, per Will Guillory of The Athletic
Jackson scored 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-0 FT) and added two assists and one rebound in 20 minutes during Friday's 118-107 win over the Wizards. Jackson had his best scoring game since the NBA resumed play. The 22-year-old's playing time has fallen off considerably in his second season in the league and, as a result, so has his scoring. He's averaged just 13.0 minutes and 5.7 points per game this season.
Jackson produced 16 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound and one assist in 20 minutes during Monday's 124-103 scrimmage win over the Bucks. Jackson earned the same number of minutes as rookie guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker. While Alexander-Walker is already a more well-rounded contributor, Jackson provides a consistent scoring punch and is less sporadic overall. As such, it's possible that Jackson will continue to earn the nod over Alexander-Walker this season when coach Alvin Gentry goes deep into his bench.
Jackson posted 12 points (4-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 21 minutes during Wednesday's 127-123 overtime loss to the Mavericks. With JJ Redick (hamstring) out and Josh Hart seeing just 13 minutes and struggling from the field, coach Alvin Gentry decided to dust off Jackson. He provided a nice boost off the bench in 21 minutes, scoring in double digits for the first time since Feb. 11 and the 11th time this season. That said, fantasy owners shouldn't count on Jackson seeing enough minutes to be fantasy relevant on a consistent basis.
Jackson totaled nine points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds and one block in nine minutes during Tuesday's 125-111 win over the Cavaliers. Jackson saw the 10th-most minutes on the team even on a night when E'Twaun Moore (neck) didn't play. Jackson can fill it up in limited minutes on occasion, but he has been held scoreless in two of the last six outings following a three-game streak of double-digit scoring. With the club at close to full strength, Jackson sometimes becomes an afterthought in the rotation.
