Carey notched 29 points (14-24 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes during Friday's 124-111 loss to the College Park Skyhawks. Carey set G League season highs in points and assists during Friday's loss. The 20-year-old has appeared in nine games for the Swarm and is averaging 18.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.0 block in 25.7 minutes. He's expected to bounce back-and-forth between Greensboro and Charlotte for the rest of the season.
Carey cleared the league's health and safety protocols and was assigned to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Wednesday. Carey had been in the league's health and safety protocols since Jan. 1, and he should see some playing time in the G League now that he's been cleared to return. He wasn't part of the Hornets' rotation prior to his absence, so he should have more chances to develop in Greensboro.
Carey (COVID-19 protocols) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the 76ers. Carey was placed in the protocols Jan. 1 and will remain sidelined for the sixth straight game. The second-year center isn't expected to be included in head coach James Borrego's rotation whenever he's healthy again.
Carey (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) won't be available for Monday's game against the Bucks. Carey was placed in the protocols Jan. 1, but he's apparently still symptomatic of the virus or needs additional time to get his conditioning in order more than a week later. At any rate, the second-year center won't be included in head coach James Borrego's rotation whenever he's healthy again.
Carey entered health and safety protocols Sunday, Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports. Carey is a fringe rotation option at best. His absence won't affect much.
