Lakers' Russell Westbrook: Teaming up with LeBron in LA

Russell Westbrook has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, along with two future second-round picks, in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and the No. 22 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.Earlier Thursday, the Lakers were rumored to be acquiring Buddy Hield from Sacramento, but the tide quickly shifted in favor of Westbrook heading home to the West Coast to team up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. On paper, Westbrook is a questionable, at best, fit on one of the worst shooting teams in the league last season, but he'll bring much-needed playmaking to supplement James and Davis -- both of whom battled injuries at key junctures in 2020-21. After a slow start to the year in Washington, Westbrook cranked up his production over the second half of the season and finished as the NBA's assists leader for the third time in four seasons. Across 65 appearances, Westbrook averaged 22.2 points, 11.7 assists, 11.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals, but he shot just 31.5 percent from three and matched his career-worst percentage (65.6 percent) at the free-throw line.

Wizards' Russell Westbrook: Now listed as available for Game 5

Russell Westbrook (ankle) is listed as available for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Sixers. The Washington Wizards initially listed Westbrook as "questionable" but quickly issued an update to clarify that the guard will, in fact, be available. Westbrook has been battling an ankle issue since Game 2, but it didn't stop him from putting up triple-doubles in each of the last two contests. He's still struggling to score the ball efficiently for the series, but Westbrook offset a horrific 3-of-19 shooting night in Game 4 by going 13-of-16 at the free throw line on his way to 19 points, 21 rebounds, 14 assists and two steals in 42 minutes.
