Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Undergoes season-ending surgery

Jusuf Nurkic underwent surgery on his left leg Tuesday to repair compound fractures, although he avoided any nerve or muscle damage, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. This is great news for Nurkic, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season but will aim to make a full recovery after steering clear of any nerve damage. A timetable for his return has yet to be released this early in his recovery process, although it's reasonable to believe he could be back on the court at some point during the 2019-20 campaign. Enes Kanter and Zach Collins are expected to split the minutes at center while Nurkic is shut down.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Out indefinitely with fractured leg

Jusuf Nurkic was diagnosed with compound fractures to the tibia and fibula of his lower left leg after exiting Monday's 148-144 loss to the Nets in double overtime.Nurkic put up monstrous numbers (32 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and two assists in 34 minutes) prior to departing in the second extra period when he came down awkwardly after leaping for a rebound. The injury looked gruesome in real time, with medical personnel immediately rushing to the court with a stretcher to cart Nurkic to the locker room. The diagnosis thus doesn't come as much of a surprise, and almost certainly spells an end to what had been a breakout season for the 24-year-old center. Nurkic, who has averaged 15.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for the campaign, will likely be replaced on the top unit by Enes Kanter.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Solid performance in win

Jusuf Nurkic furnished 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 31 minutes in the Portland Trail Blazers' 117-112 win over the Pistons on Saturday.Nurkic turned in an efficient, well-balanced effort in the ongoing absence of C.J. McCollum (knee), checking in as the third wheel scoring-wise behind Damian Lillard and Al-Farouq Aminu. The big man did see a five-game double-double streak snapped in the tough matchup down low versus Andre Drummond, but he remains a highly dependable asset at center across all formats. Moreover, with McCollum set to also miss Monday's game versus the Nets, Nurkic could make for an especially rewarding play in daily formats against a Brooklyn squad that just surrendered a 33-point, 20-rebound, six-block effort to the Lakers' JaVale McGee on Friday.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Bangs the boards again in win

Jusuf Nurkic generated 13 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds and one block across 22 minutes in the Portland Trail Blazers' 126-118 win over the Mavericks on Wednesday. For a change, Nurkic's abbreviated minutes weren't a result of foul trouble. Instead, it was the Trail Blazers' comfortable lead in the second half that provided him some valuable time off after a highly efficient performance. Nurkic has now churned out five consecutive double-doubles, and he should enjoy a boost in usage to some degree as long as C.J. McCollum (knee) remains out. Notably, Nurkic had put up 21 and 15 shots, respectively, in 30-minute-plus workloads over the prior two games, which consisted of the game McCollum exited early and the two-guard's first absence; his reduced playing time Wednesday was the only factor preventing a recurrence of the same.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Double-doubles in victory Monday

Jusuf Nurkic tallied 18 points (8-15 FG, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, and two assists in 31 minutes during Monday's 106-98 victory over Indiana.Nurkic fouled out in 31 minutes Monday but was still able to end the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Nurkic has been one of the more surprising fantasy players this season and is currently the 36 ranked player in standard formats. Once again, Enes Kanter was a non-factor and it was simply the foul trouble that limited Nurkic. The Portland Trail Blazers will get a night off before hosting the Mavericks in what should be a favorable matchup for Nurkic.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Big double-double in loss

Jusuf Nurkic tallied 24 points (10-21 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 16 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block in 34 minutes during Saturday's 108-103 loss to the Spurs.Nurkic was excellent for the Portland Trail Blazers in their loss Saturday, finishing with 24 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. He has been nothing short of amazing this season, playing well above where he was drafted in many formats. The arrival of Enes Kanter has given the Trail Blazers much-needed depth but has not impacted Nurkic's playing time or production. If C.J McCollum is forced to miss any time, Nurkic could see a slight bump in his usage moving forward.

Jusuf Nurkic put up 20 points (6-14 FG, 8-9 FT), 12 rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes Tuesday in the Portland Trail Blazers' 125-104 win over the Clippers.Nurkic's vast improvement from the charity stripe is the main reason he's enjoying the best fantasy season of his five years in the NBA, and he's been especially efficient of late. Over his last 10 games, Nurkic is converting at a 85.9 percent clip on a whopping 6.4 attempts per contest. He now owns a 77 percent mark for the season, an uptick of nearly 11 percentage points from his career rate.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Limited playing time in thumping

Jusuf Nurkic tallied 14 points (4-12 FG, 6-8 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, and one block in 22 minutes during Saturday's 127-120 victory over Phoenix.Nurkic played just 22 minutes in Saturday's victory, the majority of those coming in the first half. The Portland Trail Blazers were well in control for much of the game and the starters were no required down the stretch. Nurkic has been fantastic thus far this season and shows no signs of slowing down. The arrival of Enes Kanter has done nothing to impact Nurkic's playing time and he should remain a solid top-50 player down the stretch.

Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Ejected in overtime loss

Jusuf Nurkic totaled 13 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-8 FT), 17 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block in 34 minutes during Thursday's 129-121 loss to Oklahoma City.Nurkic was ejected with just seconds remaining in regulation after picking up his second technical foul. Things got heated between Nurkic and Paul George with both players receiving technicals. His absence certainly contributed to the Thunder being able to run away with the game in overtime as the Portland Trail Blazers were lacking on their interior defense. Nurkic still managed to put together a solid stat line, continuing his impressive fantasy season.
