Edwards signed a one-year contract with Turkish club Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on Sunday. Edwards will make the jump to Europe after he struggled to gain much traction as an NBA player since being selected early in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft. The 5-foot-11 guard proved to be one of the G League's most dynamic scorers during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 campaigns, but he averaged only 3.7 points (on 36.4 percent shooting from the field), 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 9.8 minutes over 72 appearances across the last three seasons with the Celtics and Pistons.... Carsen Edwards: Signs in Turkey
Edwards has signed with a team in Turkey, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Edwards' free agent rights were renounced by the Pistons in mid-July, and he'll elect to head overseas for the 2022-23 campaign. He averaged 4.4 points and 1.5 assists in 12.7 minutes per game with Boston and Detroit over the last three seasons.... See More ... See Less -
Pistons' Carsen Edwards: Rights renounced by Detroit
Edwards had his free agent rights renounced by the Pistons on Wednesday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Edwards was let go to clear cap space for the Pistons' offseason transactions. He played four games for Detroit at the end of last season after spending his first two years in the league seeing spot minutes with Boston.... See More ... See Less -
Pistons' Carsen Edwards: Big usage in debut
Edwards notched 13 points (5-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Sunday's 121-117 win over the Pacers. He had just one turnover. Having freshly signed a two-year contract with Detroit, Edwards debuted with Cade Cunningham (hip) and Marvin Bagley (hip) sidelined. Edwards trailed only Saddiq Bey in shot attempts while leading Detroit in assists. His size remains an issue for long-term success in the league, but Edwards will provide his fair share of highlights.... See More ... See Less -
Pistons' Carsen Edwards: Available Sunday
Edwards will be available to make his Pistons debut during Sunday's contest against the Pacers, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. With Cory Joseph (back) and Cade Cunningham (hip) dealing with injuries, Pistons head coach Dwayne Casey said the recently signed Edwards will receive a "crash course" against Indiana. The 2019 second-round pick hasn't appeared in the NBA since the 2020-21 campaign, when he averaged 4.0 points on 42.3 percent shooting across 31 contests for the Celtics.... See More ... See Less -
Pistons' Carsen Edwards: Signs two-year deal with Detroit
Edwards signed a two-year contract with the Pistons on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Edwards was drafted by the Celtics in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft and averaged 3.6 points across 68 appearances during his first two seasons in the league. However, he's spent the entire 2021-22 campaign at the G League level, where he averaged 26.7 points, 4.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 35.9 minutes per game. With Cory Joseph and Cade Cunningham dealing with back issues, it's possible the former Boilermaker cracks Detroit's rotation during the final four games of the season, though it remains unclear if the sharpshooter will be able to join his new team in time for Sunday's matchup against the Pacers....
