Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said Tuesday that Vanderbilt (foot) is progressing on a return-to-play plan, but the big man hasn't yet been cleared for contact, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports. Vanderbilt suffered a right mid-foot sprain nearly two months ago, and though he's begun running and is working to regain conditioning, he doesn't appear to be particularly close to playing in games given that he's not yet taking contact. Until Vanderbilt is regularly taking part in practices without restrictions, his return shouldn't be viewed as imminent.... See More ... See Less

Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Remains out
Vanderbilt (foot) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Bucks and will remain sidelined indefinitely. Vanderbilt hasn't played since Feb. 3 due to a right mid-foot sprain. As of mid-March, he wasn't cleared for on-court activities, and the team hasn't provided a recent update, so Vanderbilt can be considered week-to-week at this point.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: No on-court activity yet
Vanderbilt (foot) is progressing in his rehab, but he has not been cleared for on-court activities as of Tuesday, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports. Vanderbilt will certainly be sidelined for Wednesday's game against Sacramento, and he is likely to miss future contests as his gradual ramp-up continues. Vanderbilt has been out since Feb. 3 due to a right mid-foot sprain. However, the fact that there have been no setbacks in his recovery and that the 24-year-old continues gearing up to return this season are both good signs. In his absence, Rui Hachimura has remained planted in the starting lineup with Taurean Prince representing an underwhelming platoon partner. Cam Reddish (ankle) is nearing a return to action in the wing rotation as well.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Sheds walking boot
Vanderbilt (foot) was spotted on the sidelines without a walking boot Monday, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. The Lakers have yet to issue an update on Vanderbilt's status, but it appears he's trending in the right direction. Head coach Darvin Ham stated before Monday's contest that the next update on the Kentucky product's status would likely come sometime next week, per Jovan Buha of The Athletic.... See More ... Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: No on-court activity yet
Coach Darvin Ham said Tuesday that Vanderbilt (foot) has yet to progress to on-court activities, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Vanderbilt is slated to be re-evaluated at the beginning of March, but it sounds like he's still at least a couple of weeks away from returning to game action. He hasn't played since Feb. 1 due to a right wrist sprain, and initial reports hinted that the injury could sideline him for the remainder of the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Diagnosed with sprained foot
The Lakers announced Monday that Vanderbilt has been diagnosed with a right mid-foot sprain and will be re-evaluated in approximately 3-to-4 weeks, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Saturday that Vanderbilt would be out several weeks at a minimum, if not the rest of the season, so the forward's absence could extend past the Lakers' initial timeline. In Vanderbilt's absence, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince and Christian Wood are candidates for increased minutes, but Los Angeles will also be involved in talks ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, so the rotation could change drastically.... Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Could miss rest of season
The right foot injury Vanderbilt suffered in Thursday's 114-105 win over the Lakers is considered "significant," and he'll be out for several weeks at a minimum, if not the rest of the season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Beyond ruling Vanderbilt out ahead of Saturday's game against the Knicks, the Lakers haven't provided a precise diagnosis of the injury he suffered Thursday. The Lakers could still be awaiting MRI results or further medical opinions regarding Vanderbilt, but more clarity on his situation should come in the next few days. Regardless, fantasy managers in the majority of leagues can probably feel comfortable dropping Vanderbilt, given that his absence appears likely to extend beyond the All-Star break. In the short term, Vanderbilt's absence could open up clearer paths to minutes for the likes of Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince and Christian Wood, though the Lakers may also look to add to their frontcourt depth ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.... Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Expected to miss several weeks
Vanderbilt is expected to miss several weeks after exiting Thursday's 114-105 loss to the Celtics, but he's expected to undergo further evaluation on his right foot injury before a more precise timeline for his return is established, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Vanderbilt missed the start of the season due to left heel bursitis, but he's been a key piece of the rotation since returning to action in early December, playing at least 20 minutes in 15 of his last 21 appearances (six starts). With Vanderbilt sidelined, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Christian Wood and Taurean Prince are all candidates to take on elevated roles, but it could also mean the Lakers will be more active in pursuing frontcout help ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.... Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Won't return Thursday
Vanderbilt won't return to Thursday's contest against the Celtics due to right foot soreness, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports. With both LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (Achilles/hip) sitting out Thursday's game, Vanderbilt drew his first start since Dec. 31, but his night ultimately came to an early end. He was productive over his 16 minutes of action prior to departing, scoring 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and adding seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. The Lakers will likely provide an update on Vanderbilt's status following the game, but for now, he can be viewed as day-to-day ahead of Saturday's game against the Knicks.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Starting Thursday
Vanderbilt will move into the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Celtics, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. The Lakers will be without LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (Achilles) on Thursday evening, so Vanderbilt will get the spot start, and he'll be joined in the first unit by D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Taurean Prince and Jaxson Hayes. Vanderbilt makes for an attractive streamer with the increased opportunity.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Tossed Monday
Vanderbilt was ejected in the first half of Monday's game versus Houston. He finished with three points (1-1 FG, 1-1 FT) and one steal in seven minutes of action. Vanderbilt picked up two technical fouls in rapid succession Monday, engaging in a brief shoving match with Dillon Brooks on the offensive glass, then proceeding to provocatively poke Brooks, which earned Vanderbilt an early exit Monday. The Lakers close a back-to-back Tuesday against Atlanta, representing Vanderbilt's next opportunity to take the court.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Big night off bench Saturday
Vanderbilt supplied 14 points (4-7 FG, 6-8 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and four steals in 41 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 145-144 double-overtime win over the Warriors. The 24-year-old forward took advantage of the extra court time, scoring in double digits for the fourth time in the last five games and recording multiple steals for a fourth straight contest. Vanderbilt has had a bumpy first full season with the Lakers, but he seems to be getting comfortable on the second unit, averaging 11.8 points, 6.4 boards, 2.4 steals and 1.8 assists over that five-game stretch while shooting 63.9 percent from the floor.... Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Sniffs double-double in loss
Vanderbilt totaled 12 points (4-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals across 25 minutes during Tuesday's 127-116 loss to the Clippers. The platoon of Vanderbilt and Rui Hachimura was more involved in LeBron James' (ankle) absence, but Vanderbilt was the better option during the loss. Tuesday marked his second double-digit scoring result of the season, with the first total occurring against Brooklyn in the team's previous game.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Set to play Tuesday
Vanderbilt (heel) is available for Tuesday's game versus the Clippers, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Vanderbilt has been upgraded from probable to available despite dealing with a nagging heel injury. With LeBron James (ankle) out, Vanderbilt could receive increased playing time.... See More ... Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Probable for Tuesday
Vanderbilt is listed as probable to play Tuesday against the Clippers due to left heel bursitis. Vanderbilt is on track to play, and his injury designation could be maintenance-related, but appearing on the injury report with the same injury that sidelined him for the first 20 games of the season is notable. Vanderbilt hasn't missed a game since Dec. 12, however, and he's averaging 6.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in 21.4 minutes across his last five contests.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Sticking in bench role vs. OKC
Vanderbilt will come off the bench Monday against the Thunder, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports. Head coach Darvin Ham indicated a few hours before tipoff that Vanderbilt would enter the starting lineup for Monday's contest, but he later stated that he misheard McMenamin's question about the starting lineup and confirmed Taurean Prince as the starter at small forward. Vanderbilt has come off the bench in six straight contests and is averaging 3.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.7 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Joins starting lineup
Vanderbilt is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Oklahoma City, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Vanderbilt gives the Lakers a defensive-oriented look on the wings in place of Taurean Prince with Cam Reddish (knee) set for a multi-game absence. Additionally, Vanderbilt profiles as a quality point-of-attack defender and returns to the first unit as part of the same lineup that the Lakers utilized en route to the Western Conference Finals last year.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Season high in minutes Thursday
Vanderbilt produced six points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals over 29 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 127-109 loss to Phoenix. The 24-year-old forward set season highs in minutes played and rebounds, taking on a larger workload after Cam Reddish (knee) exited the game early. The Lakers have also been without Rui Hachimura (calf) for the last five games, so if Reddish misses additional time, Vanderbilt could be the biggest beneficiary. Given Vanderbilt has yet to score double-digit points in a game this season, even during a five-game stint as a starter in late December, it's hard to get too excited about his fantasy potential despite an increased role.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Coming off bench
Vanderbilt won't start Wednesday's game against Miami, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports. Vanderbilt will rejoin the reserves Wednesday after making five consecutive starts. In eight games off the bench this season, Vanderbilt has averaged 0.9 points and 3.8 rebounds over 14.2 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Will play Thursday
Vanderbilt (heel) is available for Thursday's game against the Hornets, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. The Lakers have been consistently throwing probable tags on Vanderbilt, so his status wasn't in any real doubt. He's been quiet this season, but he had one of his better showings against the Celtics on Monday with six points, six rebounds and one steal in 23 minutes.... See More ... See Less
