Greenlaw (groin) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Greenlaw has been on injured reserve since suffering a groin injury in the 49ers' season opener. The third-year linebacker played in 29 games over his first two regular seasons with the team, amassing 178 total tackles over that span and even returning an interception for a touchdown back in Week 1. Greenlaw could provide an extra jolt once he returns alongside starting linebackers Fred Warner and Azeez Al-Shaair as the team looks to fight its way back into playoff contention.
