Ward has been lining up at outside corner with the first-team defense during OTAs, CSN Bay Area reports.
Last season Ward - who was drafted as a safety - was used primarily as San Francisco's nickel corner. During Tuesday's OTAs, he was spotted lining up on the outside with the team's first unit. Despite being 24-years-old, Ward is one of the more experienced defensive backs on the roster after the 49ers drafted three corners in the 2016 NFL Draft. If he were to win a starting job, his IDP value would receive a boost with increased playing time and his ability to gain out-of-position tackles.
