Ward (hamstring) will start the season on the 49ers' injured reserve, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Ward injured his hamstring "pretty badly" at Sunday's practice according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. After coming off the best season of his career in 2021, the safety must now attempt to recover and rehab quickly in hopes of returning relatively early in the 2022 campaign.
