The Panthers hosted Averett for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Averett is looking for another opportunity to catch on with a team after recovering from a toe injury suffered last year. The 28-year-old appeared in seven games for the Raiders last season and logged 13 tackles (12 solo).
