Bills' Gabriel Davis: Big game in spot start

Davis caught five passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns on seven targets against Carolina on Sunday.

Davis stepped into the starting role normally held by Emmanuel Sanders (knee) and thrived, even scoring one of his touchdowns against feared corner Stephon Gilmore (though Gilmore seemed confused on the coverage that play, to be fair). Going back to his rookie year, Davis has been almost automatic with his otherwise inconsistent usage, so it will be interesting to see if the Bills get him more playing time going forward even after Sanders' eventual return. The Bills tried to use Sanders as their main downfield receiver this year, but at 34, it's certainly possible the veteran can't be as effective in the role as Davis. With that said, Davis is likely to return to his No. 4 role whenever Sanders is back to health.
