Hughes (foot) is active for Sunday's game versus the Patriots.
Hughes will avoid missing his first game since the 2011 season, and he'll start at defensive end in Sunday's divisional clash. The 32-year-old failed to record a sack through the first six games of the year, but he notched two against the Jets last week and will look to build on that effort against Cam Newton, who has been sacked on 7.1 percent of dropbacks this year.
