Smith has signed with the Buccaneers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Smith joins the Buccaneers after fellow running back Charles Sims (knee) was placed on injured reserve last week. After failing to make the Jets' roster following the preseason, Smith will be reunited in Tampa Bay with coach Dirk Koetter, who served as his offensive coordinator with the Falcons from 2012-2014. Although that familiarity should help Smith, his fantasy stock could be restricted by competition with Peyton Barber for work behind starter Doug Martin (hamstring) and Jacquizz Rodgers.
