McGovern (pectoral) will compete with Connor Williams (knee) for the starting left guard job in training camp, Brian Martin of Inside the Star reports.
A pectoral injury sustained during training camp last year relegated McGovern to injured reserve for his entire rookie campaign, but he'll be ready to go for Week 1. His biggest obstacle to overcome while battling for the No. 1 left guard gig will be an offseason with shortened in-person activities. On the other hand, Williams is recovering from a torn ACL suffered late November, which could open up a window for McGovern to usurp him with an impressive training camp.
