Etling signed a contract to join the Patriots' practice squad, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
New England placed Etling on waivers Sunday, but the quarterback now comes back to the team after going unclaimed. In four preseason appearances, the former LSU quarterback completed 18 of 32 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
