Don't shy away from C.J. Spiller

Senior Fantasy Writer Jamey Eisenberg on Tuesday copped to his C.J. Spiller addiction. He wants to believe Spiller can stay healthy. We all do, having witnessed what that means.

Despite last year's massive disappointment, Jamey said he'd still draft Spiller as a No. 2 Fantasy running back in Round 3 or 4. For me that's not high enough. I took him 11th overall in our first mock draft, possibly too high, but then he fell to 33rd in our second mock last month.

Over 1,440 mock drafts the past two weeks at, Spiller on average went 31st, or mid-3rd round.

That's too low. In 2012, despite Fred Jackson getting 149 touches, Spiller ranked as the No. 7 Fantasy back. He averaged 6.0 yards per carry, totaled 1,703 yards from scrimmage and scored eight touchdowns. He did all that with 250 touches.

Reports indicate Spiller is planting and cutting on the ankle that hampered him all last season. He'll turn 27 in August. Jackson is coming back, but he's 33 and has not put two full seasons together since 2009-10. The guess here is Jackson breaks down before Spiller does.

Spiller is a special talent who was going in the top five last year. Fantasy players who took him there got burned. That pain is fresh. But it will only help Spiller slip into the late second or third round, where he'll offer tremendous value.
