Falcons' Matt Ryan: Throws for career-high 503 yards in rousing victory

Ryan completed 28 of 37 passes for 503 yards with four touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 48-33 victory over the Panthers.

Ryan and Julio Jones combined on a performance for the ages against a defensive unit that was competing for a Super Bowl just seven months ago. The 503 yards Ryan amassed were a franchise record in addition to being a personal best, and were also the most yards ever allowed by the Panthers. Furthermore, the game marked the first time that quarterback and receiver had ever gone over the 500-yard and 300-yard milestone in the same contest. Although he completed passes to nine different receivers, the veteran gunslinger targeted Jones five times as much as the next closest pass catchers, with Taylor Gabriel and Aldrick Robinson both a distant second with just three looks. Ryan averaged a robust 13.6 yards per attempt while completing passes of 35, 42 and 75 yards on the day. Through four weeks, the Boston College product has totaled a league-leading 1,473 yards while producing a stellar 11:2 TD:INT ratio.
