Week 15 Rankings: Standard | PPR
Two weeks of disappointing stats from Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott have made Fantasy owners jittery. He has amassed one touchdown in two straight games and under 200 yards passing in three straight games. The six-game stretch where he mowed down rivals for 20-plus Fantasy points is behind him.
Matchups have obviously played a role. Dallas' last two opponents have done a good job containing Prescott. The Giants were able to generate a pass rush without their top defensive lineman and neutralize Dez Bryant at the same time. The Vikings didn't quite keep Bryant down, but Prescott couldn't do much with his other receivers and was sacked three times. Both games serve as an example of how Prescott isn't quite a slam-dunk.
It didn't look like a tough matchup on the schedule about a month ago, but the Buccaneers are coming into Dallas riding a red hot defensive streak. Fresh off the heels of humiliating Drew Brees, Tampa Bay has allowed four passing touchdowns over a five-game span where four quarterbacks have posted 18 or fewer Fantasy points.
Here are some Prescott-related Fantasy lineup decisions you might have to mull over this week:
Dak Prescott or Marcus Mariota? The matchup is equally bad for Mariota against a Chiefs defense that keeps getting better thanks to the return of pass rusher Justin Houston. The Chiefs are also really good at containing tight ends, hurting Mariota's top target. In this case, Prescott is the preferred start.
Dak Prescott or Tyrod Taylor? This would normally be a no-brainer for Prescott on the basis of talent alone, but Taylor's facing the Browns. Only two quarterbacks all season have failed to do well against Cleveland -- one was Ryan Fitzpatrick, the other was Ben Roethlisberger in a wind storm. It's simply too good of a matchup for Taylor.
Dak Prescott or Cam Newton? Newton's past two games have been pretty crummy, too. Somehow his completion percentage has nosedived below 50 percent in four straight, and he's not running enough to offset his meandering passing numbers. His O-line has been disheveled as well. The Panthers don't match up so well with the Redskins, and Newton's been worse on the road than at home. You have to feel better with Dak.
Dak Prescott or Ben Roethlisberger? The Bengals host Big Ben on Sunday, and while they've been great against quarterbacks in their past four games, it's not like they've faced any good ones. There's a stigma that Roethlisberger struggles on the road, but he has a pair of road games this season where he's thrown three scores and he's played in poor weather conditions in two more. It's close, but he should have slightly more point potential than Prescott.
What are the Rest of Season Rankings & Trade Values? The values assigned to the players below are a long-term measurement of their Fantasy value in standard and PPR leagues. And if your league still allows trade, you could add two players' values to determine what one player you should be able to get in return. Any player not on the chart should be considered valued at no more than four points and not a must-own.
