Bell was among three running backs to work out for the Packers on Tuesday, but no signing was made, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
On Sunday morning, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the RB-needy Packers were expected to ink Bell to a deal as early as Monday. However, Ty Montgomery returned from a one-game absence Sunday and fueled a competent ground attack versus the Colts, contributing a team-high 53 yards on seven carries to 116 total for the Packers. With James Starks (knee) growing ever healthier, the coaching staff must be confident that the tried and true running back will be available in the near future, and perhaps as early as Sunday at Tennessee. Even if he's not, Bell seemingly won't be a part of the offensive picture in Green Bay in Week 10.
