The Lions signed Williams to the active roster Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Williams made a pitstop on Detroit's practice squad earlier this season but was cut after just a week with the unit, inking a deal with Washington's practice squad shortly thereafter. The Lions are bringing him in as backfield depth now, but he likely won't be utilized much following D'Andre Swift's recent success and Adrian Peterson's ability to remain in the mix despite his inefficiencies. Williams won't be eligible to play Week 8 against the Colts due to COVID-19 protocols, but he could suit up next week against the Vikings.
