Bonnafon has been elevated to the Panthers' active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Bills, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports.
Bonnafon will back up Chuba Hubbard and Ameer Abdullah in Carolina's backfield. He will also serve as the team's emergency quarterback should anything happen to both Cam Newton and P.J. Walker. He has some experience under center from his collegiate days at Louisville.
