Cooks notched three of seven targets for 88 yards in Thursday's 42-27 season-opening loss to the Chiefs.

Despite his role as Tom Brady's defacto No. 1 receiver, Cooks was outpaced by Danny Amendola (head) before the latter's exit. However, he did match Amendola for the team lead in targets, a harbinger of the robust role he should enjoy in the Patriots' attack throughout the season. Cooks' tally included a team-long 54-yard reception as well, an encouraging reminder of the downfield dimension he brings. He'll look to put together an even better performance in a showdown against his former Saints teammates in Week 2.
