Mays is facing an addition to his four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Mays was released by the Bengals on Saturday, and it now appears that the additional suspension was the reason for his release. He played in 14 games for the Raiders last season, recording 26 tackles and five passes defensed. Despite cutting the seventh-year safety, Cincinnati hasn't ruled out bringing him back after his suspension is complete, so long as he's ready to play, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
