Texans' Brennan Scarlett: Shifts to IR, as expected

The Texans placed Scarlett (forearm) on injured reserve Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Scarlett suffered a fractured forearm during Sunday's win over the Jaguars, and he's expected to face an extended absence. The Texans are expected to get Whitney Mercilus back from the COVID-19 list this week, but they'll still be short-handed at linebacker. Jonathan Greenard and Nate Orchard are candidates to slot into a starting role on the outside.
