Texans' Lamar Miller: Grinds out 61 yards in Week 2 win

Miller rushed 18 times for 61 yards and secured all three targets for 26 yards in Thursday's 13-9 win over the Bengals.

With rookie Deshaun Watson starting his first NFL game, the plan clearly called for a heavy emphasis on the ground attack. Miller and rookie D'Onta Foreman thus entered halftime with eight rushing touches apiece, but Miller pulled away in the second half. His post-intermission efforts included a key 19-yard scamper on the Texans' final scoring drive, a 13-play march that culminated in a Ka'imi Fairbairn field goal. Despite a serviceable final line, Miller did find tough sledding on the ground overall, totaling just 42 yards in his 17 other totes. However, if Watson continues to develop as a passer as expected, that dimension, coupled with the threat he poses with his legs, should allow Miller to face some beatable seven-man fronts as the season unfolds. He'll look to build on Thursday's performance against the Patriots in Week 3.
