Ammendola successfully converted 1-of-2 field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Thursday's preseason game against the 49ers.
Ammendola was needed as fill-in for Ka'imi Fairbairn, who missed the game with an undisclosed injury. He booted a 45-yarder in the third quarter then missed wide left from 31 yards out. Fairbairn is expected to return by the regular-season opener, per Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle, so Ammendola may be back on the free-agent market soon.
