Butler was released by the Bills on Friday, BuffaloBills.com reports. Butler has jumped around for the duration of his NFL career, fighting to catch on with a team. He managed to make the Bills roster for 13 games in 2015 but he didn't play at all on defense.
The Bills have placed three players on injured reserve Friday. Tight end Tony Moeaki, cornerback Mario Butler and cornerback Bobby Felder were all put on IR. Moeaki started 29 games for the Chiefs from 2010 to 2012. He was active for two games last season with the Bills, but failed to record any offensive stats.
None of those listed as injured for the Bills is on their inactive list for their Thursday clash against visiting Detroit. The inactives are cornerbacks Bobby Felder, Corey Graham, Mario Butler and Stephon Gilmore, safety Jonathan Meeks and tight ends Garrick Williams , Scott Chandler, Lee Smith and Tony Moeaki.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins, defensive backs Mario Butler, Bobby Felder and Jonathan Meeks, defensive linemen Kyle Williams and Alan Branch, tight end Tony Moeaki, and offensive lineman Chris Williams were not in uniform for Saturday's game.
