Player Outlook

Is Joe Flacco Fantasy Football Elite? No. Not even close. Not even after throwing for a career-best 4,317 yards last season (and that was coming off of a torn ACL). We've learned that Flacco is a good, strong-armed quarterback who just isn't as consistent as the majority of his peers. Knowing that, it's dang near impossible to recommend him for Fantasy with his offensive line losing multiple starters this offseason and his receiving corps losing top wideout Steve Smith to retirement. A late July back injury only makes his outlook even gloomier. Expect Flacco to be one of the most unpopular passers in Fantasy this fall -- until the bye weeks kick in. That's when he'll get picked up and used as a one-week option. He's only worth a pick around the halfway point in two-quarterback format drafts.

Player News
  • Flacco completed 25 of 34 pass attempts for 217 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 24-10 win over Cleveland. After throwing for just 121 yards in Week 1, it was encouraging to see Flacco air it out a bit more against the Browns. The Ravens are likely to rely on their defense and running game most weeks, which isn't a favorable fantasy formula for any quarterback. However, while Flacco's upside is clearly capped, he's now turned in consecutive serviceable weeks to start 2017. Additionally, after missing the majority of training camp and all of the preseason, the 32-year-old veteran hasn't shown much rust. Baltimore travels to Jacksonville to face an improved Jaguars defense in Week 3.

  • Flacco said he was pleased with how his back felt after Sunday's 20-0 win over the Bengals, John Eisenberg of the Ravens' official website reports. "I'm not going to say I'm 100 percent, but there are no limitations," Flacco said. While he may still be dealing with some soreness or stiffness, Flacco doesn't expect his back to have any impact on Baltimore's weekly game plans throughout the season. The team was able to ease him into action with only 17 pass attempts Sunday, taking advantage of a dominant defensive performance in combination with a competent running game. The Ravens likely hope to do the same as favorites for Sunday's home game against Cleveland, but Flacco should take at least one or two shots down the field over the course of the day.

  • Flacco completed nine of 17 passes for 121 yards with a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's win over the Bengals. While much of the talk around Flacco in recent months has been his knee and back injuries, it's easy to forget that the statuesque passer has been pretty average since former offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak skipped town three years ago. While his completion percentage has improved, his touchdown-to-interception ratio and yards per attempt have taken dives. Flacco benefited from a 46-yard catch-and-run from Jeremy Maclin and a few quick passes to Danny Woodhead on Sunday. Look for the Ravens to lean heavily on the run and quick timing passes this season in an effort to get Flacco back on track.

  • Ravens' Joe Flacco: Practicing fully
    By RotoWire Staff

Flacco (back) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Flacco has avoided setbacks since returning to practice Saturday. The veteran quarterback may be a bit rusty after missing all of training camp and the preseason, but his availability for Sunday's opener in Cincinnati doesn't seem to be in question. He has a horrible track record at Paul Brown Stadium, where he's won just two times in eight tries while throwing five touchdowns and 12 touchdowns. To be fair, the Cincinnati defense has had a clear talent advantage over the Baltimore offense in most of those contests, whereas the matchup this season looks like it could be a bit more even.

  • Ravens' Joe Flacco: Feels ready to go for Week 1
    By RotoWire Staff

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that Flacco (back) has experienced no setbacks since returning to practice Saturday and will be "ready to roll" for the team's Week 1 matchup with the Bengals. Since Flacco was sidelined for all of training camp and the preseason while recovering from a back injury, he could be listed on the team's injury report throughout the week, but it doesn't appear he's in any danger of missing the opener. However, due to his extensive time on the sideline the last several weeks, Flacco could endure some rustiness while he eases back into action, especially with a new starting wideout (Jeremy Maclin), starting tight end (Nick Boyle) and third-down back (Danny Woodhead) to integrate into the offense. That's probably enough to limit Flacco's appeal as a starting option in most season-long leagues or DFS contests in Week 1, though he's a more viable lineup choice in two-quarterback formats.
