Easley (knee) was released by the Bills on Wednesday. Easley never saw the field in 2016 as he recovered from knee surgery. The wideout had just three receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown in his six seasons with the Bills. He's now an unrestricted free agent, but it's unclear how his surgically repaired knee is doing, which could cause teams to take caution when considering signing him.
Coach Rex Ryan said Monday that Easley still isn't ready to practice as he recovers from knee surgery, The Buffalo News reports. Even with all the other injuries the Bills have at receiver, Easley still won't do much there, especially with Justin Hunter starting to hit his stride. However, he's a special teams maven, so perhaps there's hope he can get back for the stretch run and help in that important area. Still, the knee injury he suffered was brutal, so no one should be counting on anything until Easley is back practicing.
Easley, still recovering from major knee surgery, was placed on the regular season PUP on Tuesday, BuffaloBills.com reports. Easley will miss at least the first six weeks of the regular season. He's close to game action again, but the Bills have such a logjam at wide receiver that at some point they'll need to decide whether Easley's special teams acumen has more value than another wideout's offensive skills.
Coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday that Easley (knee) is not close to returning to practice, BuffaloBills.com reports. Easley's a special teams star, but it doesn't look like there's going to be room for him on the active roster when the season starts. We'll see if the Bills feel he's worth keeping around on the PUP list.
Easley has been placed on the active/physically unable to perform list. He's recovering from a dislocated knee cap that was also broken in three places during the Week 16, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports. Easley is arguably the team's best special teams player, but the Bills also have so many decisions to make at wideout that Easley may need to prove his health soon in order to be a serious consideration for the final roster.
