Sturgis (hip flexor) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Sturgis has been given a timetable of four weeks after suffering the injury in his plant leg. With the open roster spot, the team will sign Jake Elliott off of the Bengals' practice squad to fill in for Sturgis in his absence.
Sturgis (hip flexor) is expected to be out four weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. With Sturgis facing a multi-week absence, the Eagles are in line to sign another kicker in short order. In Week 1, the 28-year-old made all three of his field goal attempts (including a 50-yarder) en route to a 10-point effort in Sunday's 30-17 win over Washington.
A quad strain in Sturgis' plant leg is expected to sideline the kicker several weeks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. We'll await official confirmation of such an outcome, but in the meantime, those who roster Sturgis should, at a minimum, look to acquire a Week 2 replacement. Meanwhile, the Eagles are expected to audition other kickers this week.
Sturgis connected on two of three fields goals and three extra points during Sunday's win over the Cowboys. Sturgis finishes his 2016 campaign having made 35 of 41 fields goal attempts and 30 extra points in 31 tries. He signed a one-year extension with the Eagles in September, so he's slated to be Philadelphia's kicker once again in 2017.
Sturgis drilled all four of his field-goal attempts in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Sturgis's performance provided fantasy owners with solid production for a second-straight week. He will look to keep the ball rolling in a divisional matchup against the Giants in Week 16.
