  • Commanders' Jon Bostic: Starting Sunday

Bostic will draw a start Sunday against the Texans, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. Bostic will get the nod with Cole Holcomb (foot) inactive for the game. The former has played a big role in the team's rotation at linebacker the last two weeks, recording nine tackles (four solo) on 83 defensive snaps.

  • Saints' Jon Bostic: Headed to New Orleans

Bostic signed a contract with the Saints on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Bostic tried out for the Saints at the beginning of August, and the team has now signed the veteran linebacker after placing rookie fifth-round pick D'Marco Jackson (undisclosed) on IR. Bostic appeared in four games last year before suffering a season-ending pectoral injury. The former second-round pick had back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons in 2019 and 2020, but he'll likely compete for a backup role behind Demario Davis in New Orleans.

  • Football Team's Jon Bostic: Picks off Big Ben to seal upset

Bostic had a team-high 10 tackles (four solo) and an interception in Monday's 23-17 win over the Steelers. Bostic racked up his highest tackle total since posting a season-high 14 against the Ravens back in Week 4, and he sealed Washington's upset of the previously undefeated Steelers with a late interception. The veteran linebacker bounced around the league earlier in his career but has settled in nicely with Washington, as he needs just 14 more tackles to reach 100 for a second consecutive season.

  • Football Team's Jon Bostic: Likely will avoid suspension

Bostic won't be suspended for his hit on Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton (concussion) during Sunday's win, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Dalton had given himself up and was sliding to the ground when Bostic lowered his shoulder and administered a violent hit on the quarterback's head, forcing him to leave the game and enter concussion protocol. Bostic was ejected for his actions, but it appears the league won't hand him any further discipline. A hefty fine could still be on the docket, but Bostic should remain in his starting middle linebacker role when Washington resumes play Week 9 against the Giants.

  • Football Team's Jon Bostic: Picks up another sack

Bostic had seven tackles (five solo) and a sack in Sunday's 30-15 loss to Arizona, playing 100 percent of snaps on defense. Bostic also had seven tackles, a sack and 100 percent snap share in the season opener, with both he and Kevin Pierre-Louis handling three-down roles. Bostic had only 105 tackles (56 solo) and one sack in a similar role last season, but he's on track for much bigger numbers this year, in part because he's been so successful as a blitzer (four QB hits). He should have another busy day Week 3 at Cleveland.

  • Redskins' Jon Bostic: Sets career tackle mark in loss

Bostic made five tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 41-35 loss to the Giants. Bostic has been credited with at least five tackles in four-straight games and has not logged fewer than four since Week 1. Each new tackle he makes is a new career high and his next one will be his 100th of the season.

  • Jon Bostic: Let go by Pittsburgh

Bostic was released by the Steelers on Saturday. The move isn't overly surprising after the Steelers traded up to draft Devin Bush with the 10th pick during the first round of the draft. Bostic also played a reduced role down the stretch for the Steelers, so it seems as though he fell out of favor with the coaching staff. The veteran linebacker will spend the 2019 season with his at least his fifth different team in the last five years.

  • Steelers' Jon Bostic: Quiet finish to solid season

Bostic failed to record any tackles during Sunday's 16-13 win over Cincinnati. After averaging 45 defensive snaps per game the first 11 games of the season, Bostic's playing time took a huge hit, as he averaged just 13 defensive snaps for each of the last five games. This culminated with a season-low six snaps in the season finale. Playing in all 16 games, Bostic finished the 2018 season with 73 tackles -- including 2.5 sacks -- the most he has had in one season over his six-year career. There is no clear explanation for his reduced role during the stretch run, and he'll head into 2019 on the last year of his current contract.

  • Steelers' Jon Bostic: Leads team with six tackles

Bostic recorded six tackles (all solo) including a sack in Monday's 30-27 win over the Buccaneers. In just his third game as a Steeler, Bostic has already matched his career high with two sacks and leads the team with 21 tackles. The defense has 11 sacks through three games, second only to Chicago and is on pace for 58 on the year. They'll look to add to that total against Baltimore in Week 4.

  • Jon Bostic: Signing with Pittsburgh

Bostic (knee) is signing a two-year contract with the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. With Ryan Shazier (spine) already ruled out for the upcoming season, Pittsburgh has a glaring need at inside linebacker alongside incumbent 16-game starter Vince Williams. A 2013 second-round pick, Bostic has never quite lived up to his draft status, although he did pile up 97 tackles in 14 games while handling a three-down role for the Colts last season. He may need to compete with Tyler Matakevich (shoulder) -- and possibly another free agent or draft pick -- for the starting job. The oft-injured Bostic finished last season on IR due to a knee injury of unknown severity.

  • Colts' Jon Bostic: Ready to go Monday

The Colts have listed Bostic (calf) as active for Monday's tilt versus the Titans. Bostic was a DNP for Saturday's practice after logging full practices earlier in the week, but it looks like the Colts were just exercising caution with 26-year-old linebacker. He will look to improve on the 40 tackles he has accumulated thus far on the season in Monday night's game.

  • Colts' Jon Bostic: Records 12 tackles Sunday

Bostic posted a team-high 12 tackles (five solo) is Sunday's 46-18 loss to the Seahawks. It was the second straight game that Bostic managed to record double-digit tackles, bringing his season total to a team-leading 33 (22 solo). With the Colts dealing with a defense that struggles to get off the field and an offense that has a hard time staying on, Bostic's number of tackles should continue to grow at an impressive rate.

While he didn't fare well against the pass, he may get a lot of opportunities to make tackles with a defense that will struggle to get off the field.

Bostic (foot) was seen working with trainers on the sidelines at Wednesday's practice, MLive.com reports. Bostic was placed on injured reserve after going down with a fractured left foot in training camp. However, his increased activity Wednesday suggests Detroit may have made a decision regarding which one player they want to activate from IR. Such a notion would mean RB Ameer Abdullah (foot) is completely done for the season.

He'll bolster the Lions' depth at linebacker, with his capabilities well-understood by GM Bob Quinn, formerly the Patriots director of pro personnel.

  • Bears LB Jon Bostic (ankle) out Sunday against Cardinals

An ankle injury has cost Bears linebacker Jon Bostic participation in the game Sunday against Arizona, per Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times. Bostic sustained the injury toward the end of August and hasn't been able to recover enough to get on the field - he's now slated to miss back-to-back games. With Christian Jones locking down the inside linebacker position, Bostic will have a tough time gaining IDP relevance when he returns healthy.
