  • Ellis (foot) is expected to return to practice next week, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Ellis suffered the foot sprain in the season opener and Sunday will mark his ninth game spent on injured reserve. The 27-year-old's return to practice will begin a 21-day window in which the Raiders must decide whether to activate him off IR or keep him on the shelf for the duration of the season.

  • Coach Jon Gruden said that Ellis (foot) is expected to return to practice this week, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Ellis is a candidate to return from injured reserve if he's able to return to full health. The fifth-year pro sustained strained ligaments in his foot during Oakland's loss to the Rams in Week 1, and should be approaching the end of his recovery timeline. Ellis' eventual return to practice should shed some light on his chances of playing again this season.

  • Ellis sustained strained ligaments in his foot in Monday's season-opening loss to the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Raiders are labeling Ellis as week-to-week with the injury, making it unlikely he'll be ready to play Sunday in Denver. After tallying 48 stops in 16 games in 2017, Ellis was shut out of the tackle column across 52 snaps in the Week 1 loss before departing. In addition to Ellis, fellow defensive tackles P.J. Hall (ankle) and Brian Price (hamstring) are also nursing injuries, which could prompt the Raiders to sign Johnathan Hankins to shore up the line, according to Rapoport.

    By RotoWire Staff

Ellis and the Raiders have reached agreement on a three-year contract for more than $15 million, including $6 million guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. A 2014 fourth-round selection, Ellis only has one-half of a sack in 60 NFL games, but he's made 41 starts and piled up 112 tackles, including a career-best 48 last season. He'll likely continue in his role as Oakland's starting nose tackle, exiting the field for most passing downs.
