Webb will sign with the Bengals on Thursday, Dianna Russini of ESPN reports. Webb rejoins new Bengals' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, whom he played under for all 16 games with the Giants last season. Across a career-high 1,004 defensive snaps in 2018, he logged 59 tackles, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble.
Webb recorded seven tackles (six solo), two passes defended and one interception during Sunday's 38-35 win over the Buccaneers. Webb logged his first reception of the season Sunday, during a game in which New York's defense picked off Buccaneers' quarterbacks a total of four times. The veteran cornerback also notched his highest single-game tackle total of the season. Webb will look to record another strong outing against the Eagles in Week 12.
Webb is expected to start at outside cornerback across from Janoris Jenkins following Eli Apple's trade to the Saints, Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com reports. Webb had been manning the slot before Apple's departure, but the former will now start outside with Grant Haley appearing in the slot.
Webb will start at cornerback in place of the injured Eli Apple (groin) during Sunday's tilt against the Texans, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports. Webb is slated to start across from Janoris Jenkins, but the duo will remain busy while attempting to cover Texans receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, who had a breakout game in Week 2 after returning from a hamstring injury. Expect Donte Deayon and Antonio Hamilton to provide Jenkins and Webb with depth in the secondary.
Webb agreed to terms on a deal with the Bears on Wednesday, his agent Sunny Shah reports. Webb has played for four teams in as many seasons and the Bears will now mark his fifth. The journeyman played in 14 games for the Saints last season, including eight starts, and finished the 2016 season with 28 tackles and one interception. He likely isn't guaranteed a roster spot considering Chicago currently has 12 other cornerbacks under contract.
