Pierce (hamstring) was waived Monday by the Broncos, Mike Klis of 9 News Denver reports. Pierce was sidelined with the hamstring injury about a month ago and never was able to make it back to the field. The team expected him to miss a few days once he suffered the injury, but Pierce's recovery evidently didn't progress as quickly as the club had hoped. Pierce, a six-year veteran, could find a new home given his prior experience, but not until he proves he's healthy.
Pierce (hamstring) has yet to return to Broncos' practice, Andrew Mason of the Broncos' team website reports. After spending the majority of 2016 on the injured reserve, Pierce signed a reserve/future contract with the team during the offseason. It is unclear when Pierce suffered the hamstring injury, but it has kept him absent from the first three weeks of training camp. At this point, he figures to have a tough time earning a spot on the final roster.
Pierce is expected to miss a few days of practice due to a hamstring injury, Mike Klis of 9News reports. PIerce signed a reserve/future contract with the Broncos in January after spending the year on injured reserve. The severity of his hamstring injury is unknown, but he figures to be cautious in order to avoid a lingering issue. However, he is competing for a role providing depth at running back on the final roster, so a return sooner than later will be in his best interest.
Pierce signed a future/reserve contract with the Broncos on Tuesday. The fifth-year back has played in 52 NFL games, including three starts, with the Ravens and Jaguars since 2012. Most recently he spent time with the Jets, but landed on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, forcing him to miss the entirety of the 2016-17 season.
Pierce was released by the Jets on Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. It was unlikely that Pierce would have been a main contributor for the Jets' backfield anyway. The 25-year-old found himself stuck behind the ever-emerging Bilal Powell and proven Matt Forte. In the end, a change of scenery may bode well for the talented Temple product.
