Hyde failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's 23-20 win over Miami. Hyde didn't receive a carry during Sunday's contest, as James Robinson and Trevor Lawrence were the only Jaguars to run the ball for Jacksonville. It was the first time this season Hyde didn't receive a touch, as he clearly remains nothing more than a handcuff option in case of a potential injury to Robinson.
Hyde had five carries for 13 yards during Sunday's 37-19 loss to the Titans. James Robinson dominated the backfield work with 19 touches, while Hyde unsurprisingly operated in a secondary role. However, the veteran tailback did receive a goal-line carry on fourth down during the fourth quarter, and he ended up losing three yards. Hyde played 18 offensive snaps and is unlikely to see more than sporadic involvement in the offense while Robinson remains healthy.
Hyde (shoulder) was a full practice participant Wednesday, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports. Hyde was a surprise late scratch ahead of last Thursday's loss to the Bengals after his shoulder started bothering him the day of the game. He's apparently back to normal, and thus should resume his backup role behind James Robinson for Sunday's matchup with Tennessee.
Hyde is being held out of Thursday's game at Cincinnati due to a shoulder issue, J.P. Shadrick of the Jaguars' official site reports. According to Shadrick, Hyde's shoulder didn't feel "right" when he arrived at the stadium, hence the decision to make the veteran running back inactive. With Hyde sidelined, the Jaguars likely will ride James Robinson out of the backfield, while Dare Ogunbowale is on hand for any RB reps that linger.
Hyde (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Thursday at Cincinnati, John Shipley of SI.com reports. Hyde has earned between 23 and 37 percent of the Jaguars' snaps on offense through three contests, which has resulted in 21 touches. With those looks now up for grabs, it could mean season-high usage for James Robinson, who has averaged 14.3 touches for 84 yards scrimmage per game while scoring one touchdown. Dare Ogunbowale also is on hand for his first carry or target of the campaign.
