Stanford agreed Wednesday with the Bills on a two-year, $3 million contract, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports. Stanford served mainly as a reserve linebacker and special teams player for the Jets last season, logging only 92 snaps on defense. He'll likely fill a similar role for the Jets' division rivals in 2018.
Stanford (ankle) was released by the Jets on Friday, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports. After receiving a promotion from the Jets' practice squad to the active roster last October, Stanford ultimately finished the 2016 campaign with 22 tackles across nine game appearances. However, he ended the season on injured reserve due to an ankle injury and will likely need to prove he's back to full strength before finding a new home ahead of training camp.
Stanford was waived/injured by the Jets on Wednesday, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports. Stanford injured his ankle Monday night against the Colts and wasn't able to practice Wednesday. The Jets claimed ex-Jaguar Arthur Brown off waivers to get back to the 53-man roster limit.
Stanford has been signed from the Jets' practice squad, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. Stanford will look to provide depth to a thin linebacker corps for the Jets. Erin Henderson is likely out for the year after being placed on the NFI and Darron Lee remains sidelined with an ankle injury, so Stanford could see some immediate action in Sunday's matchup against the Ravens.
The Lions put cornerback Nevin Lawson (dislocated toes) on injured reserve, signed cornerback Danny Gorrer and promoted linebacker Julian Stanford from the practice squad.
