Derek Carrier signed with the Raiders this offseason, and will likely be the No. 2 tight end at best in Oakland behind Jared Cook. Carrier is more of a blocking tight end than a receiving threat, and he has just 10 catches for 81 yards and no touchdowns on 13 targets over the past two seasons. He also has just one career touchdown. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
Carrier agreed to a three-year deal with the Raiders on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. This deal won't become official until the league's new year starts Wednesday. Carrier played 14 games for the Rams in 2017, but he hauled in just eight passes for 71 yards and zero touchdowns, while getting just one target in the red zone. He'll likely slot in behind veteran Jared Cook, who had 54 receptions for 688 yards and two touchdowns in 2017, in Oakland's depth chart.
Carrier played just three offensive snaps and didn't receive a target during Saturday's 26-13 loss to Atlanta in the wild-card round. The 27-year-old tight end finished the season with eight receptions for 71 yards, as he failed to carve out a meaningful offensive role with Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett ahead of him on the depth chart. Considering Carrier followed first-year head coach Sean McVay from Washington to Los Angeles last offseason, his lack of playing time on offense reinforces his limited upside in the passing attack. Additionally, Higbee and Everett project to improve with experience. With Carrier set to become an unrestricted free agent, it will likely take a change of scenery for him to have a chance of generating fantasy value in 2018.
Carrier (hamstring) was full participant at the Rams' practice Wednesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. Carrier sat out the previous two games with the hamstring issue but appears fully healthy as the Rams get ready for Sunday's game against the Saints. The 27-year-old will likely resume his role as a reserve tight end for Los Angeles.
Carrier (hamstring) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Vikings, Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site reports. Carrier hasn't really been a factor in the passing game this season, amassing just five targets all year. The Rams will mostly feel his loss on special teams, as Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett will remain the top tight ends in the passing game.
Carrier (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Texans, Myles Simmons of the Rams' official site reports. Carrier carried a doubtful designation ahead of this game, so this isn't much of a surprise. The third-year pro has four receptions on five targets for 43 yards and zero touchdowns. Undrafted rookie, Johnny Mundt, will pick up Carrier's leftover snaps.
