  • Tomlinson was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. Tomlinson missed last week's loss to the 49ers, but his absence will be limited to just that one game. Assuming he has no lingering symptoms, Tomlinson should retake his starting spot on the interior of Minnesota's defensive line Sunday in Detroit.

  • Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said Tomlinson won't be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list in time to play Sunday against the 49ers, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Zimmer essentially confirmed that Tomlinson contracted the virus, as Mike Garafolo of NFL Network previously relayed that three of the four NFL players placed on the list Tuesday were the result of positive COVID-19 tests, while multiple reports suggested Joe Flacco was the lone player deactivated as a result of being a close contact of an infected person. Because Tomlinson is an unvaccinated player who tested positive, he'll be subject to an automatic 10-day quarantine, which puts the defensive tackle on track to miss practice time Week 13 as well. Tomlinson could still be activated from the list in time to play in the Vikings' game later that week against the Lions on Dec. 5.

  • Tomlinson (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. The defensive tackle is unvaccinated, so depending on whether he tested positive, he may be looking at an extended absence. If positive, Tomlinson will be out at least 10 days, missing the team's Week 12 matchup with the 49ers, but if he was just a close contact, he could rejoin the Vikings in as soon as five days. If Tomlinson is unavailable for Sunday's game, Sheldon Richardson would likely pick up extra reps in his stead.

  • Tomlinson had four total tackles and a QB hit in Sunday's overtime loss at Cincinnati. Tomlinson started at defensive tackle and played on 47 of the defense's 69 snaps. He could serve as a run-stopping asset on the defensive line after joining the Vikings in free agency. He has a career high of 3.5 sacks in a season, so he may not add much in the pass rush, however.

  • Tomlinson signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Vikings on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Tomlinson spent the first four seasons of his career with the Giants and managed a combined eight sacks. While those aren't gaudy numbers, he played an important role with the team by logging over 600 defensive snaps in each of his final three campaigns and over 100 special teams snaps in every year of his career. He'll now take on a large role along the Vikings' defensive line.
