Davis' agent has not been approached about a possible contract extension, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. A 2016 second-round pick, Davis is entering the final year of his rookie contract after three seasons with a Steelers team that has used him at slot corner, free safety and strong safety over his brief career. The Steelers have a reputation for waiting until August to extend their contract-year players, so it might only be a matter of time until Davis gets a new deal. The 25-year-old has been practicing at free safety in spring workouts and appears to be approaching training camp in good health.
Davis (quadriceps) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Davis missed two days of practice due to a quadriceps injury, and will sit out versus the Bengals despite returning to practice Friday. Jordan Dangerfield will slot into Pittsburgh's starting lineup for Sunday's must-win contest.
Davis (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Bengals, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Davis was unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday, but ended the week with a full practice Friday. The Maryland product leads the team in tackles (79) and will be a game-time decision. If Davis doesn't play, Marcus Allen would be next in line for work at the free safety position.
Davis (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. Per the report, Davis' availability for Sunday's game is up in the air at this point. Davis, the team's leading tackler (79 tackles), will likely come down to a game-time decision. His practice participation for the next few days should give an indication of whether he plays.
Davis totaled five tackles (all solo) and an interception during Sunday's 31-28 loss to New Orleans. The interception came on the Saints' first possession when Davis hauled in a deep pass from Taysom Hill intended for Tedd Ginn Jr. It was the first pick of the season for Davis -- who also leads the team with 80 tackles this season -- although Pittsburgh would likely prefer someone other than a defensive back have that honor. The Steelers failed to force a turnover in their previous game this season against the Bengals, whom they face in Week 17.
